Psalms In Service is a full-service entertainment and creative production company founded by Clarise Hicks, professionally known as DJ PsalmTress—a visionary artist whose life has been shaped by music, creativity, and purpose since childhood. Based in Newport News, VA, Psalms In Service stands as a one-stop entertainment hub, offering a unique blend of DJ services, karaoke hosting, event production, creative artistry, and collaborative partnerships.
Clarise’s journey began long before the company was officially formed. As a child, she hummed melodies in her crib, sang on the Sunbeam Choir, and later recorded her first CD in 2008. Her deepest inspiration came from her maternal grandmother, a songwriter who passed down her notebook of lyrics just months before her passing. Honoring those wishes became a driving force behind Clarise’s pursuit of music, performance, and creative expression.
Her artistic path expanded into entrepreneurship early on. In 2005, she launched her first business as a photographer, followed by creating and producing events in 2008. She later earned a bachelor’s degree in Digital Media Production from Sanford Brown College, equipping her with the technical and creative tools to produce high-quality experiences.
In 2016, Clarise stepped into DJing, unlocking a new dimension of her talent. After relocating to the Hampton Roads area in 2017, she began envisioning a platform that would combine all her gifts—music, production, entrepreneurship, and creativity—into one powerful entity. That vision became reality in 2019 with the birth of Psalms In Service.
Today, Psalms In Service represents everything Clarise has learned, built, and become. It is a creative powerhouse that blends entertainment with purpose, offering:

Clarise’s mission is to collaborate with fellow creatives, entrepreneurs, and visionaries to produce meaningful, high-impact projects that align with the long-term goals of the brand.
Clarise is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Entertainment Business at Full Sail University, expected in 2026—equipping her to take Psalms In Service to new heights in leadership, production, and creative innovation.
